Calling all New Yorkers!
IF you haven't paid a visit to Pratima Spa, do so now (for those of you who are participating in #NoBuyJanuary, go next month). Located in SOHO, this Ayurvedic spa is pure luxury and super healing...for the skin and soul. What's great are the one on one consultations with Pratima (think of it as skin therapy), where she recommends products (skincare and herbal supplements) that balance out your doshas- for a glowing radiant you.
Those of you who don't live in NY, you can read her book- Absolute Beauty. It's a great intro to Ayurveda through the lens of skincare and beauty.
I'm mostly Pitta, but I also have a lot of Vata in me and it needed some balancing- anxiety, breakouts, etc.
Wanna know your Dosha...take this QUIZ!
One of MANY things that Pratima recommended was this Pitta Herbal Cleanser. It functions like a powder to paste cleanser (just add water) similarly to May Lindstrom's Clean Dirt and Tatcha's Rice Enzyme Powder. It's stronger than the Tatcha one and slightly milder than May's, but this little product still packs a big punch. I wouldn't recommend this for my girls with sensitive skin!
Since I'm not buying any new skincare or makeup this month (#NoBuyJanuary), I"ve been using this pretty consistently. My skin feels nourished and soft after washing. Sometimes it leaves my skin slightly red though and my skin is not sensitive...like I said, it is strong! I think it's a perfect choice for combination or blemish-prone skin.
As far as balancing my doshas...I'm happy to report that I'm feeling so much better/ clearer (mind and body)...but more on that later.
Ingredients: ORGANIC MILK POWDER, LENTILS, ALOE VERA, NEEM, ORANGE PEEL, CORIANDER, SANDALWOOD, LAVENDER, LICORICE, MANJISTHA.
